Lab Director: Adam Putnam

Adam finished his BA at Earlham College, a small liberal arts college in Indiana. He then spent two years as Assistant to the President at Earlham, where he worked in several areas of higher education administration. In 2009 he left for Washington University in St. Louis where he completed his PhD with Henry L. Roediger. Adam spent three years teaching at Carleton College in Northfield Minnesota and is now at Furman University in South Carolina.
When he isn't teaching or in the lab, Adam is probably working out, doing yoga, or spending time with his wife Sara. Adam is also an accomplished magician, and has worked around the country as a magician and mind-reader (and occasionally does magic in class).

He is interested in a variety of psychological research, including memory, developmental, and biopsychology. He is fascinated with experiments mainly for their potential to add to the general knowledge even without any particular application. In a way, he likes research for the sake of research. In his free time, Will enjoys reading epics and poetry, particularly, old German poems, and driving through mountain roads. He also spends a lot of time practicing the violin for both orchestral and solo pieces. |

If you are a Furman student and are interested in joining the lab as a research assistant please contact Adam. We're not currently looking to hire (keep your eyes peeled during the end of the fall semester) but we always like to meet people who are interested in memory research.
